Trauma and PTSD
Trauma does not always look like what you expect. It is not always a single dramatic event. Sometimes it is the slow accumulation of experiences that leaves you feeling unsafe, unseen, or alone. Sometimes it is something you have never fully named but carry everywhere you go.
At Jackson Therapy & Consulting, I work with adults in Omaha and across Nebraska and Pennsylvania (via telehealth) who are ready to make sense of what happened, understand how it shaped them, and build a path forward that feels grounded and real.
You May Be Experiencing Trauma If You
● Find yourself reliving memories, images, or feelings from the past even when you do not want to
● Feel emotionally numb, disconnected, or like you are just going through the motions
● Struggle with sleep, concentration, or feeling safe in your own body
● React to present situations with an intensity that does not quite match the moment
● Feel stuck in cycles of shame, self-blame, or fear you cannot seem to break
● Have been told nothing is wrong but know something still does not feel right
How I Work With Trauma
My approach to trauma therapy is grounded in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Together we work at a pace that feels manageable, not overwhelming. The goal is not to relive everything. It is to help you process what happened so it no longer runs the show.
We will work to identify trauma-related beliefs, understand how past experiences shaped your current patterns, and build tools for regulation, clarity, and long-term resilience. Clients often describe the process as finally feeling like things start to make sense.
Trauma Intensives for Acute Support
If you are in a period of acute distress, experiencing a sudden resurfacing of traumatic memories, or simply cannot wait weeks between sessions to feel relief, an Individual Intensive may be the right fit. Intensives offer 3 to 4 consecutive sessions designed to provide concentrated, focused support when you need it most.
Areas of Focus
Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Childhood and developmental trauma
Adult children of dysfunctional or high-conflict families
High-control or fundamentalist religious experiences
Trauma within family systems and relationships
Processing spiritual experiences connected to past harm
Healing is not about eliminating the past, but updating the meanings attached to it so old interpretations no longer need to dominate how you understand yourself or the present.
